Instructional Services Librarians

Resources Available

Reference & Instructional Services supports research and study by faculty and students in the departments of Anthropology, Business and Economics, Education, History, Politics, Psychology, and Sociology, as well as the National Catholic School of Social Service. The division also provides general reference services and referral.

The division subscribes to the major indexes and databases for the disciplines it serves, which are available through the Web, on CD-ROM (computer databases in the libraries), and in print. Researchers use these indexes to find books, articles, dissertations, statistics, government publications, and other materials.

The list of electronic databases are available in the WRLC Libraries Catalog of ALADIN.

Guides to materials within the collection are available on the Information Desk (first floor, Mullen Library) and through the library's Web site.

Patrons may search ALADIN, access the Internet, and view or make copies from microfilm and microfiche in the division. Photocopiers are available in the building.

Reference Services

Reference services are available at the Information desk on the first floor of Mullen Library and via telephone (202-319-5070).

Reference librarians provide assistance at all stages of the research process, which includes instruction in the use of ALADIN and other research tools.

Instructional Services

Reference & Instructional Services sponsors workshops in library research for CUA students, faculty, and staff. The sessions cover principles of library research and techniques for using research tools such as ALADIN, the Internet, and article indexes.
