Current Progress of
Library Renovation (updated 3/15/2004)
The first floor renovation is complete. Four new areas are
available for your use:
May Gallery: Sitting room and exhibit space.
MERIC
Instruction: Classroom
for library instruction.
MERIC
Lab: Computer area with
CD-ROM and Internet
workstations and tables for laptop use.
South
Foyer: Lounge and walk-up Internet
workstation
area.
Important Note about Microfilm
and
Microfiche:
The
microfilm
collection now is in Room 114A, next to the new microform equipment
room.
Microfiche is in
a new location not accessible to the public. For assistance with
retrieval, inquire at the Information Desk on the first floor.
Bound
Periodicals: Many bound periodical volumes are
in 1 North
and 1 Center in the Periodical Stacks, but volumes also may be shelved
in the General Stacks or at WRLC. Check the WRLC Libraries Catalog for
the location.
Circulation
Desk: The Circulation desk is on the first
floor,
behind the arches. Questions about borrowing privileges, the Consortium
Loan Service (CLS), interlibrary loan (ILL), items on reserve, and
searches and recalls are answered at this desk. You also may update
your Cardinal Card at the Circulation desk.
Copiers: Copiers are
located on the first, second, and third
floors. A copy card dispenser and coin-operated copy machine are on the
second floor.
Current Periodicals: Current periodical issues may be
in the
Main Reading Room on the second floor or in the Humanities Library or
the Theology/Philosophy/Canon Law Library on the third floor.
Dissertation Room: Recent dissertations may be in the
General Stacks or at WRLC. Older dissertations may be in Stacks 1
south, awaiting transfer to the WRLC Center. Check theWRLC Libraries
Catalog for the location.
Folio Items: The folio collection is in Stacks 1 South.
Humanities Library: The Humanities Library is located
at the
north end of the third floor.
Information (Reference) Desk: The Information desk has
been
moved from the second floor to the first floor, in front of the arches.
Questions about research, using the library, call number locations, and
finding a specific book or journal are answered at this
desk. Ready reference works are shelved behind the Information Desk.
Lima Library: The Oliveira Lima Library is located on
the
Garden Level.
Main Reading Room: Current
social sciences journals, current newspapers, print indexes,
bibliographies, and atlases are located in the Main Reading Room on the
second floor.
May Gallery: The May Gallery and the south wing of the
first
floor will be closed for renovation until later in the semester.
Public Computers: iMacs for public use are located on
the first
floor, across from the Information Desk and the May Gallery and in the
Stacks Reading Room. PCs are located in teh MERIC Lab on the first
floor and in the main
hallways on the second and third floors. CUA students, faculty, and
staff may borrow laptops at the Circulation Desk for use in the library.
Rare Books and Special Collections: Rare Books is
located in
the south wing on the second floor in Room 214.
Reference Reading Room: The
Reference Reading Room on the first floor houses the general, social
sciences, and humanities reference collection, which includes general
and subject-specific encyclopedias, handbooks, and almanacs.
Restrooms: Women’s restrooms are located on the first, second, and
third floors. Men’s
restrooms are located on the first and third floors.
Security Desk: The Security desk is in the lobby on
the first
floor. Please show your Cardinal Card or other photo ID when entering
and be prepared to sign the guest register if you are not affiliated
with CUA. For the security of the collections Mullen Library reserves
the right to check all bags as you exit the building.
Semitics/ICOR Library: The Semitics/ICOR Library is
located in
the north wing of the Garden Level.
Stacks: Circulating items are shelved on levels 1A through
3A of the stacks.
Stacks Reading Room: The new Stacks Reading Room is
located on
the first floor in front of Stacks 1 Center.
Theology/Philosophy/Canon Law Library: The
Theology/Philosophy/Canon Law Library is located at the south end of
the third floor.
