Who is a Non-Degree Student?A non-degree student is any individual attending classes at The Catholic University of America (CUA) but not actively working towards a degree from CUA. Cross-registered students from other schools are included here. LoansNon-degree students may borrow up to 750 regular circulating items on a four-week loan but may not borrow non-circulating items. You must present your Cardinal Card at the circulation desk to borrow circulating items. Non-degree students may renew any item that has not been recalled, in person or through their online library account, myALADIN. Most items may be renewed three times. Non-degree students are subject to all recall and reserve loan policies and may not borrow if they have five or more overdue items, one recalled item, or owe $5.00 or more in fines. Fines and Other FeesNon-degree students are subject to all fine policies. Please consult the Access Services Policies and Procedures guides for further information. Course ReservesNon-degree students may borrow items from all reserve locations. For additional information, please refer to the Access Services Policies and Procedures guide for Central Reserve. Interlibrary LoanInterlibrary loan is not available to non-degree students through CUA. Washington Research Library ConsortiumNon-degree students do not have privileges with the Washington Research Library Consortium (WRLC) through CUA. Remote AccessCourtesy borrowers do not have remote access to certain ALADIN databases. Other Circulation PrivilegesNon-degree students are entitled to searches, and courtesy holds of CUA items only. Library SecurityAll patrons, both CUA and non-CUA, must show a photo ID when entering Mullen Library. Patrons with non-CUA or Consortium IDs also will be asked to sign the guest book. Mullen Library reserves the right to check all bags as patrons exit the building.
