Who is a Special Borrower?

A special borrower is any patron of The Catholic University of America (CUA) Libraries who has privileges but is not a faculty member, staff, or a student of the University. A special borrower may be an alumnus of the University; an internship supervisor for NCSSS, the School of Nursing, or other schools/departments; a post-doctoral auditor; a non-CUA member of the OCLC Faculty Reciprocal Borrowing program; or a member of an organization with a group privileges contract (American Nursing Association and the American Nursing Credentialing Association).

Loans

Special borrowers may borrow up to 750 regular circulating items on a three-week loan, but may not borrow non-circulating items. You must present a valid borrowing ID at the circulation desk to borrow books. Each item can be renewed for three times by calling the circulation desk at 202-319-5060 or coming into the library in person. Special borrowers are subject to all recall policies, and may not borrow if they have five or more overdue items, one recalled item, or owe $5.00 or more in fines.
