Searches

A search is the process of looking for an item not charged in the WRLC Libraries Catalog that a patron cannot find on the shelf.

- Eligible Patrons

CUA:

- Procedures for Submitting a Search Request

If an item is not on the shelf:

  1. Print the catalog page for the needed item.
  2. Print your name, library barcode and email address or phone number on the request.
  3. Submit the form at the Mullen Circulation desk.
  4. A notice will be mailed in one to six weeks indicating that:
    • the book has been found and is being held, or,
    • the book is missing from the collection and you must seek an alternative source for it.

- Policies

A searched item that has been found will be held for the patron for ten days from the date it was found. If the item is not picked up, it will be returned to the stacks.

Recalls

A recall is a request for an item already charged.

- Procedures for Submitting a Recall Request

If WRLC Catalog indicates that the item is charged:

Online:

       Fill this online request form. When the book is returned, a notice will be sent to you.

In person:

  1. Print the catalog page for the needed item.
  2. Print your name, library barcode and email address or phone number on the request.
  3. Submit the form at the Mullen Circulation desk.
  4. A notice that the book is being held will be sent when the book is returned.

- Policies

  • The average recall takes about ten days.
  • A recalled item is held for ten days after the date it is returned. If it is not picked up, it will be returned to the shelf, or be put on hold for the next patron in the recall queue.
  • Recall requests will not be honored for patrons with blocked IDs (see Circulation Privileges Statement).
  • The fine for an item not returned by the recall due date is $5.00 a day.

- Note to Graduate Students and Faculty

  • The due date on items recalled from graduate students and faculty is changed to twenty-one days from the day the book was charged.
  • If the twenty-one day period has passed, the due date on items recalled is changed to ten days from the date the recall request was submitted.
  • The new due date is indicated on a Recall notice that is sent by email or mail to the patron who has the item.
