Fines and Other Fees
Washington Research Library Consortium
Other Circulation Privileges
A staff borrower is any non-teaching employee of The Catholic University of America (CUA).
Staff borrowers may borrow up to 750 regular circulating items on a four-week loan but may not borrow non-circulating items. You must present your Cardinal Card at the circulation desk to borrow circulating items. Staff may renew any item that has not been recalled, in person or through their online library account, My Library Account. Most items may be renewed three times. Staff are subject to all recall and reserve loan policies and may not borrow if they have five or more overdue items, one recalled item, or owe $5.00 or more in fines. Blocks also may be placed on staff records when a patron has items overdue or owes fines at any Consortium institution.
Staff borrowers are subject to all fine policies. Please consult the Circulation Services Policies and Procedures guides for further information.
Staff borrowers may borrow items from all reserve locations. For additional information, please refer to the Access Services Policies and Procedures guide for Central Reserve.
Staff borrowers may obtain books, articles, and other materials not available in the CUA or WRLC libraries via Interlibrary Loan service. For instructions see Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Service. (Note: CUA law students submit their ILL requests at the DuFour Law Library.)
With a CUA ID, staff borrowers may borrow items from any of the libraries belonging to the Washington Research Library Consortium (WRLC). A staff borrower may borrow up to a combined total of twenty-five items from the other Consortium libraries. Direct Borrowing privileges will be suspended when the staff borrower owes $15.00 or more in fines, has ten or more overdue items, or has one overdue recalled item. Please consult the Washington Research Library Consortium Guide to Libraries for more details. Staff borrowers may request items from WRLC libraries through Interlibrary Loan (at the Mullen Circulation desk) or may borrow items on-site at the Consortium libraries. See WRLC Borrowing Policies for details.
Staff borrowers may access the subscription databases remotely (i.e., from home or the office) when their privileges are in good standing.
Staff borrowers are entitled to searches, and courtesy holds. For more information on these and other circulation privileges, please refer to the Access Services Policies and Procedures guides or contact Mullen Library's Access Services office at 202-319-5060.
All patrons, both CUA and non-CUA, must show a photo ID when entering Mullen Library. Patrons with non-CUA or Consortium IDs also will be asked to sign the guest book. Mullen Library reserves the right to check all bags as patrons exit the building.
