Digitized Online CollectionsIn 2001 The Washington Research
Library Consortium (WRLC) was awarded a grant from the federal
Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) under the 2001 National
Leadership Grants for Libraries program. WRLC's Digital
Collections Production Center (DCPC) is a collaborative facility to
provide digital conversion services in a
production environment for WRLC member universities. The DCPC provides
staff
and systems to manage digitizing projects, scan materials, and enter
descriptive
information developed in conjunction with library staff.
Each member University Archives was asked to provide materials from their collections for consideration as possible materials for digitization. As of September 2007, ACUA has eight collections digitized so far. ACUA Photograph Collection Selected Images and Prints of The Catholic University of America This collection includes photographic collections from the American Catholic History Research Center and University Archives at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. These collections contain images and prints of the Catholic University of America buildings and grounds, faculty, students, and University community from different periods of it's history. So far, this collection contains images from the 1890's and 1917 - 1921; additional images will be continually added to this collection. The Brooks-Queen Family Collection The Brooks - Queen Family Collection (1773-1979) documents the activities of members of two Washington families of the nineteenth century.Catholic Educational Exhibit, World's Columbian Exposition, Chicago Consists of 50 photographs documenting the building, hall, and alcoves where Catholic educational institutions displayed objects and printed material from 1892-1893 during the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, Illinois.Fenian Brotherhood Collection A collection consisting of mostly letters which touch upon major conflicts and points of debate within the Fenians in the 1860s. To view the WRLC digital project, click here.Terence Vincent Powderly Photographic Prints Labor leader Powderly was also an avid and talented amateur photographer.Treasure Chest of Fun & Fact A Catholic comic book fondly remembered by generations of parochial school students.The Ursuline Convent, Charlestown, Mass., Collection This collection documents the ministry of the Ursulines of Quebec in Boston area during the years 1833-1903. There are currently other collections under production, and several others are under consideration for future projects.
