Catholic University Libraries and the WRLC consortium subscribe to thousands of periodicals in a variety of formats. By asking yourself the following questions, you should be able to make a judgment about whether a particular article would be considered scholarly by the academic world.
NOTE : There are many reliable and valuable sources of information that are not considered scholarly. Many articles from newspapers, magazines, trade publications and newsletters are written by scholars or published by scholarly organizations. These types of publications will prove to be useful in your research. However they are not considered to be official vehicles of scholarly communication. When in doubt, ask your professor.
