General Searching Notes:
-By selecting "Keyword (AND, OR, NOT)" from the dropdown menu, operators can be used (the words AND, OR, and NOT do not need to be typed in upper case.)
Operator Type To Find
-AND means that you want records with both words. Brahms AND Sonata Finds records with both "Brahms" and "sonata."
-OR means that you want records with either word. Brahms OR Sonata Finds all the records which use either "Brahms" or "sonata."
-NOT means you don't want the following word in the record. Brahms NOT Sonata Finds records with "Brahms" that do not have "sonata."
-" " are used to enclose a phrase. The WRLC Libraries Catalog cannot understand your search without the quotation marks. "Ten Easy Pieces" Finds records that have the phrase "Ten Easy Pieces."
-? indicates truncation. Use this when you only know how a word begins or for words that can end in more than one way. Symphon? Finds symphony, symphonies, symphonic, Symphonien, etc.
-( ) are used to enclose terms you want to search as one unit. (Brahms OR Haydn) AND Sonat? Finds records for sonatas by Brahms or Haydn.
