Collection Overview
The Nursing/Biology Library currently has on site over 70,000
items. About three-fourths of the collection is devoted to nursing and
supporting disciplines and one-fourth is in the biological sciences.
The collection consists of journals, monographs, dissertations and
audiovisual materials, including slides and video cassettes. The
Nursing/Biology Library also houses historical collections,
particularly in nursing.
The library subscribes to over 400 print and electronic
journals, which include most of those nursing journals published in the
English language as well as selected medical and biological journals.
To access specific electronic journals, use the Electronic
Journal Title Finder, entering the title or keywords in the title
of the journal for which you seek.
The policy of the library is to collect literature as it
relates to the programs offered by CUA's School of Nursing and Department of Biology. The collection also reflects CUA's interdisciplinary
programs and faculty interests. Since the library supports curriculum
and instruction programs from the baccalaureate through the doctoral
level, it offers a broad range of materials but emphasizes those most
appropriate for scholarly research. Research material can be located
through the ALADIN collection
of databases, which includes the online library catalog for CUA.
