Monumental Brasses: In 1913 an anonymous donor presented to the university his collection of books, serials, and miscellanies relating to the history and recording of monumental brasses primarily in England. The collection was put together over twenty years, mainly for the sake of the illustrations. It contains 130 items: books, pamphlets, notebooks, and offprints. Of particular interest are the publications of the Oxford University Brass-Rubbing [later, Antiquarian] Society and the folio volumes published by the Monumental Brass Society. Most of the material is uncatalogued, but there is a bibliography of the collection in the Rare Books and Special Collections Department.

The Richard N. Foley Collection: Professor Foley gave to the University a virtually complete collection (200 volumes) of American and British first editions of the works of Henry James, supported by works of criticism. In addition, he donated over 1,400 first or limited editions of early twentieth century poetry and plays by authors such as Marianne Moore, Ezra Pound, W.H.Auden, e e cummings, T.S. Eliot and William Carlos Williams.
