The Order of Malta Collections
The long rich history of
the Knights of Malta is well documented in The Foster Stearns Collection which
contains over 280 books and manuscripts, dating from 1495 to the
present, as well as memorabilia such as programs and dinner menus. A
printed catalogue was prepared in 1955, and the holdings are also
accessible through ALADIN. In 1999 the library received the Carol Saliba Family Collection of
142 letters and documents relating to the internal affairs of the
Order. Dating from the 16th to the early 19th centuries, these items
illustrate the involvement of the Order in European politics over the
years.
